Clean room, quite, and located right beside town centre
Wigan Oak boasts WiFi and it has WiFi. In 2012 WiFi is by far the most important facility but the Wigan Oak system is pathetic. I had to wait until day 2 to get a code from reception - then every time I left the hotel I had to type in the long code and long password to re-enter the system. I take this as deliberate unhelpfulness and obstruction - planned to reduce the business level in the hotel so that it will fail and close down - and I detest not understanding why this is the aim of an otherwise v convenient hotel. Secondly - breakfast seemed to have plenty of staff and no one in charge. I asked for HOT tea and was brought warm tea. No cup and no milk, and I got these off another table while staff watched. Suggestion - eliminate all your Wifi codes and make it available freely and easily.
The hotel was well located, clean, comfortable with friendly staff. Room facilities were good & the price was excellent. Would recommend to anyone requiring a good quality hotel at a good price
Bar & restaurant a bit overpriced.plenty of reasonably priced places to eat within a couple of minutes walk
The bathroom floor being tiled, it was extremely cold when on bare feet . Perhaps one or two bathroom mats would help!
The attention and courtesy given by the maitre in the restaurant was excellent.
I found that the menu range was limited and rather expensive, the breakfast I thought was especially expensive.
Central to the town center.Room was of a good size and clean,Housekeeping staff were very helpful.
On arrival the reception tried to charge £13.95 for breakfast ,until it was pointed out that it was in the price of the room, the young girl was Polish and did not understand until I showed her my booking paper work.Saturday morning breakfast was cold and they was not enough staff too cope with the amount of guest's staying in the hotel. The Bar area is not very big for the amount of guests the Hotel can hold. They was a wedding saturday night ,while waiting for my taxi they was nine children running wild in the Bar area, this was about eight o clock the area was not big as it was ,it was like been in a Kids play center.Very disapointing.Sunday booking out ,was been over charged for two extra breakfast's,again i produced my booking paper work.
Good hotel, friendly hotel, good location
Staff were very friendly and polite Good food, clean rooms and a really good atmosphere.
Location in the centre of wigan with good, secure and free car park. Hotel rooms were above the average and well presented.
Restaurant menu could have offered a larger choice.
The room i asked for was none smoking however the room i was given had been used several times by smokers so much so i could not unpack at the whole room and corridoors had a horrible stale smoke smell.
Value for money was amazing. The food was top notch and staff couldn't of been more helpful. Would recommend to anyone xx
Staff very responsive helpful and friendly
Very cold in room on arrival Hair dryer not working
The room was very clean, inviting & comfortable. I have never had such a good nights sleep at a hotel, the bed was fantastic. The location is within walking distance of town, was easy to find & had good parking facilities.
As comfortable as it was, the room or the hotel didn't offer anything that a budget hotel offers & therefore the price for the hotel I think was slightly too high.
The beds were very large & comfortable. Nice modern bathrooms. The reception & bar staff were friendly & accomodating. Free parking. Late checkout time.
The breakfasts are rather expensive and can be obtained for a quarter of the cost at the local Weatherspoons pub.
The staff are friendly and efficient. The free WiFi throughout the hotel is a bonus as some hotels restrict this to the lounge areas. Rooms are smart and modern.
In view of the fact that breakfast is available at various places (supermarket/cafe) nearby, at a ,lower price, I feel that including breakfast in all room rates would be a good idea.
Very comfortable beds - beats most 3 stars and some 4 Star offerings in the area of Wigan / Bolton Would recommend but look at dislikes
Dont like car compound makes you feel as though in a unsafe area tried to order a sandwich gave up after 30 mminutes, staff fianlly came back to me after 90 minutes to ask if I still wanted it this was at 13:00 (Daytime) dont like the fact that they dont just take an inmprint of your plastic awaiting exit before collecting any money - they tried to tie up twice the value of roomcosts so we paid for room and charged nothing to our account - most hotels now only take an imprint without yting up funds which take upto a week to get back untied when you leave
